How government Defeats Crystal Clear Logic   printer

"If you begin with the content of solid waste, solutions will fall like rain from the sky" -------Peter Anderson, national recycling leader "Government officials think that if solid waste is picked up and carted away--anywhere away--and there are no rats in the street, that is a good solid waste system." ---Bruce Wood, BURNT The quote by Mr. Peter Anderson is so basic and succinct. It assumes something often not found, a decision making process with a beginning point and process. Unfortunately, for government officials they just DO NOT care about logic about solid waste--they have schools and roads to take care of and prisons to build. Two BURNT members attended every meeting of all three state solid waste planning bodies. Membership was 1950's country club--46 out of 49 embers of the State solid Waste Reduction Task focrce, the State Solid Waste Advisory Committee, and the State Solid Waste Disposal board is 46 out of 49 white!! How can this be in year 2009? How can the gpovernment (and governor) of Tennessee not be embarrassed? WHAT WE PROPOSE the only thing we ask is that food waste, yard waste, and paper be composted not landfilled. We do not care who handles the finacing and managment of this composting--let it be the multi-national solid waste corproations. We certainly trust the landfill corporations more than we do the state. We also think some one should clean up the ground water in Dickson County, Coffee County, Cedar Ridge, Oak Ridge, and TVA Coal Ash Landfills. However, nothing will be cleaned up until TDEC looks deep in the mirror--or around the circel--and says "My name is ------, and I am a polluter."
